I build websites for local businesses.

Simple, fast, and easy to find on Google. No logins to remember, nothing to update, nothing that breaks on a Sunday. I'm one person, I live about ten minutes from Burnsville, and you deal with me directly — every time.

Not sure you need one? I'll tell you honestly if I don't think it'll help. That costs nothing.

What you get

A website that does its job

For most local businesses that job is simple: when somebody looks you up, they should find you, believe you, and be able to call you. Everything else is decoration.

Built for a phone first

Most people who look you up are standing in a parking lot holding a phone. Your address, your hours and a big button that dials you — without pinching and zooming.

Set up so Google can read it

Your name, address, phone and hours written the way Google expects to find them, so your listing and your site agree with each other.

Fast, on any connection

These sites load in under a second. That matters more than it sounds like it should — people leave slow pages, and Google notices when they do.

I look after it, not you

No plugins, no database, no software asking to be updated at eleven at night. There is nothing on your site that can rot or be broken into — and anything that does need doing, I do. You never log in.

Built around what you actually do

I start with everything I can find — your listing, your photos, what customers already say about you. Then we go through it together and shape it around the work you actually want more of. Nothing goes up until you've read it.

Yours, completely

The site, the words, the pictures and the domain name are yours. If you ever want to take it somewhere else, I'll hand over the files and help you move. No hard feelings.

Pricing

What it costs

Printed here so you don't have to ask. The price is the same whoever's asking, and I'll tell you before I start if I think your job falls outside it.

To build it

$1,000once

A complete one-page site: your services, your reviews, photos, hours, directions and a call button. Written, built and set up on your own domain name.

  • Half up front, half when you're happy with it
  • Usually live within a week
  • If you don't like it, you don't pay the second half

Then, to keep it running

Care

$50/month

Fast, secure hosting. Backed up, certificate renewed for you, and checked around the clock so I know it's down before you do. Hours, phone number, address and small text changes whenever you need them.

If your site stays much the same once it's up.

Care + Updates

$250/month

Everything above, plus up to three hours of my time every month — new photos, a seasonal change, a note about a job you're proud of. You tell me what you want said; I write it and put it up.

A site that changes gives people a reason to look again, and gives Google more of you to find. If something will take longer than the three hours, I tell you first — extra time is $80 an hour, about half what an agency charges.

Anything bigger than that, I'll quote you before I do it. No contract, no minimum term — stop whenever you like.

How it works

You'll see it before you buy it

I don't do mockups, wireframes or discovery workshops. I build the actual site and show it to you. If it's wrong, it's a lot easier to say so when you're looking at the real thing.

  1. We talk for twenty minutes

What you do, who calls you, what you wish people knew before they walk in. In person or on the phone, whichever you prefer. No charge and no obligation.

  2. I build it and show you

A real, working site on a real address you can open on your own phone. Usually within a few days. Nothing is paid at this point.

  3. We go through it together

Line by line if you want. I'll ask you to confirm anything I've claimed about your business — I would rather cut a sentence than put something up that isn't true.

  4. It goes live on your domain

I handle the technical side — the domain, the certificate, the Google listing. You don't need an account or a password unless you want one.

About me

Twenty-six years of this, and I live up the road

I've been building software for twenty-six years — for state governments, for a health insurer, for a startup handling public records across all 67 counties in Florida, and for marketing agencies building websites and online stores for their clients.

More than seven of those years were inside marketing agencies, so I've sat on the other side of this conversation many times. I also built and ran my own product, EZ-Converter, which grew to 35,000 users a month before I turned it into a paid product. I did every bit of that marketing myself — that's where the second half of my experience comes from.

I live in Green Mountain with my three daughters, who go to school here. Burnsville is where I go for groceries. When I say I'll come by and look at something, it's a ten minute drive, not a support ticket.

Questions

The things people actually ask

I already have a website, but it doesn't work anymore.

The most common one I see. Somebody built it years ago, moved on, and it quietly stopped working — while your Google listing kept pointing at it. Customers click and get an error.

Your domain is almost always still yours, and the fix is straightforward. I'll look it up for free and tell you what's going on.

What happens to my domain name?

It stays yours. If you already own one, we point it at the new site — your listing and your business cards don't change. Not sure if you own it? I'll find out, usually in five minutes.

If you don't have one, I register it in your name, not mine.

Do I have to know anything about computers?

No. No account, no password, no login. You call or text me and I change it. That's the whole system.

What if I want to change something later?

Hours, phone number, address, prices, a line of text — included in the monthly, and I don't count them.

Bigger changes come out of the three hours a month on Care + Updates. If a job will take more than that, I tell you before I start it — you'll never get a surprise bill.

Am I locked into a contract?

No contract, no minimum term. Tell me and we stop at the end of the month — and I'll hand you the files and help you move it wherever you want.

Do I actually own the site?

Yes — the design, the words, the photos and the domain. A website you can't leave isn't a service, it's a hostage situation.

How long does it take?

A few days to see the first version, live within a week or two once you're happy. Most of that is waiting on photos and on you having a spare half hour, not on me.

What if I don't need a website?

Plenty of businesses here do fine without one, and I'll say so if I think that's you. If word of mouth already brings you all the work you can handle, a website won't change your life and I won't pretend otherwise.

Where it does help: people new to the area, anyone comparing two shops on a phone, somebody checking whether you're open before they drive over — and anyone trying to find out whether you do a particular job at all, instead of guessing or calling around. It also puts you alongside businesses that look established, rather than the ones with nothing to find.

Call or text me and tell me the name of your business. I'll look up what's out there under your name right now — your listing, your old site if you've got one — and tell you what I see. That costs nothing and you're not committing to anything.
